'He's obviously someone I'm friends with,' says the 28-year-old when turning down report that she had a special relationship with the 'Milk' actor.
Natalie Portman finally speaks up about the nature of her relationship with "
Milk" actor
Sean Penn. "He's obviously someone I'm friends with I mean, not 'hey, wassup?' friends," the 28-year-old beauty said in an interview with Marie Claire magazine for its January 2010 issue.
"We were all on the [Cannes 2008] jury together - Alfonso [Cuaron] and Marjane [Satrapi] - and we had a really great time, and then ... It was one of those things where you're like, 'Oh, my God! I'm that person who's caught in this shitty rumor brigade,' " she recalled. "You can't win. You don't say anything and everyone's like, 'It's true.' You say something, and you're keeping the story alive. It's bad, bad news."
During the interview, the "
Brothers" actress also talked about being a late bloomer. She confessed of not touching pot until she attended Harvard University, saying "OK, so I didn't really go to high school parties and yeah, I didn't touch pot till I was in my 20s. I didn't get flat-out drunk until I went to college. But I think that's a good thing in many ways."
Natalie Portman was first romantically to Sean Penn in March. At the time, the two were said at the Sunset Towers Hotel's Tower Bar in West Hollywood, California. "They went to a bank of elevators that only goes to the spa or to private rooms. They came back about 45 minutes later, and that's when I saw them making out," a witness told Star Magazine.
