In recent interview, the star of 'Lizzie McGuire' admits her earlier hesitancy on taking the role of Olivia Burke in The CW's teen drama because of the character's similarity to herself.
Hilary Duff has steamed up "Gossip Girl" as famous-movie-actress-in-disguise Olivia Burke for quite some time now, but she apparently was indecisive on taking on the role because of the similarity between the character and herself. The star of "
The Lizzie McGuire Movie" confessed of her uncertainty in the January 2010 issue of Nylon magazine.
"I was a little hesitant," the 22-year-old opened up. She, furthermore, elaborated on the reason why, saying "It was kind of close to home...then I realized, I would never say something [that Olivia says] like, 'Oh, this is just for the cameras.' I think that's what makes me so different from some of the other people my age."
"It seemed for a time there were people who hated each other - and I knew they hated each other - but they were in pictures together all the time, smiling and throwing their arms around each other," Duff additionally stated. "I was like, 'You're in the same business I am - how can you do that and feel okay? I so wouldn't do that.' "
Hilary Duff made her debut as Olivia on "Gossip Girl" in episode four of season 3. In the episode titled "Dan de Fleurette", she enrolled at NYU and was assigned to be Vanessa's roommate since she was looking forward for a somewhat normal college experience. The confirmation of Duff joining The CW's series for a multi-episode story arc was made back in July.
