Ashlee doesn't have to worry about her future as an actress since Nicole Richie welcomes the younger sister of Jessica Simpson as a supporting cast for her planned half-hour sitcom.
Being cut off from The CW's "Melrose Place" doesn't mean the end of
Ashlee Simpson's TV career. According to The National Enquirer, she has got another television stint thanks to
Nicole Richie and her new sitcom. The 25-year-old singer-slash-actress is said to be cast as a supporting role on the show.
National Enquirer in its December 21 issue went on reporting that Ashlee's casting was actually Nicole's first executive decision as series creator. It further detailed, "With few other job prospects on the horizon, Ashlee - who desperately wants to establish herself as an actress - was feeling down until Nicole stepped up and promised: 'I've got your back. What are girlfriends for?' "
An insider who spilled the bean to the tabloid claimed that aside from taking a pity at the wife of
Fall Out Boy's bassist
Pete Wentz, Nicole still believes Ashlee is talented. "Nicole adores Ashlee, and she truly believes in her talent," so the informant claimed. There are yet words from the parties involved so far.
Nicole Richie's new scripted comedy is yet to have its title. It is being developed at ABC as a single-camera half-hour sitcom that features the former "Simple Life" star as a professional woman with complicated family relationships, who struggles to figure out what role she'll take as her life and her family evolve.
Ashlee Simpson herself has turned to Broadway following her axing from "Melrose Place". She takes the role of Roxie Hart in "Chicago", which runs for ten-week starting from November 30. Of her participation, she told MTV, "I'm honored to be reprising my role as Chicago's Roxie Hart, returning to the stage and joining this amazing cast. Being on Broadway is a childhood dream come true."
