Learning from her experience at 2009 American Music Awards, the songstress won't do big jumps on her performance at the Wednesday, December 16 episode of 'So You Think You Can Dance'.
In spirit of the holiday season,
Jennifer Lopez will not present "So You Think You Can Dance" viewers with a boxing-theme performance of her single "Louboutins" this coming Wednesday, December 16. Instead, she will be delivering a holiday-themed number of the song on the season six finale.
Unraveling the holiday version of the song was "SYTYCD" choreographers Tabitha and Napoleon D'umo. "The idea is kind of a cross between a Marilyn Monroe, 'Santa Baby' and a 'Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend,' but using shoes," Napoleon first opened up about the performance. "Shoes are a girl's best friend nowadays instead of diamonds."
Wife Tabitha chimed in, "What would a girl want for Christmas? Of course it would be a shiny pair of Louboutin shoes ... It's for the holiday season [and] we're putting a holiday twist to 'Louboutins.' " She then detailed, "We're going to incorporate some girls in the performance that were in [SYTYCD] seasons past."
"I don't think any other artists that have performed on this show have actually incorporated contestants from the show," the choreographer specializing in the lyrical hip-hop genre further explained. "It's not just a performance ... it's a connection to the show."
Addressing Lopez' infamous fall at the 2009 American Music Awards on November 22, Tabitha went on to say that for this choreography the songstress won't have to do big jumps anymore. "We're steering clear of some big jumps," she said. "I feel like we don't have to be dangerous anymore." She also stated that there will be "no sweaty backs, no shirtless guys," adding, "We're going to have some classy looking guys."
Jennifer Lopez took the tumble down during her "Louboutins" performance at this year's AMAs on Sunday night, November 22. After climbing up the backs of her shirtless male dancers, she then leaped into the air. When landing on the floor, she seemed to lose her footing and slipped onto her backside. But, she jumped up almost instantly and continued with the routine.
"So You Think You Can Dance" finale will be aired on FOX on Wednesday at 8 P.M. EST. In addition to Jennifer Lopez, the dance competition will feature performances by "American Idol" season 8's runner-up Adam Lambert, "The X Factor" winner
Leona Lewis and singer
Mary J. Blige.
