'I'm a little freaked out right now about it, to be honest,' says the 32-year-old singer when revealing that he is going to take a temporary leave from romancing any woman.
Following his split from Jennifer Aniston in March, John Mayer has admitted that he is planning to take a temporary leave from having a special relationship with any woman. Sitting down with Ellen DeGeneres on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Tuesday, December 15, the 32-year-old revealed, "I'm just going to let time pass and just do my thing."
Elaborating his statement, Mayer said, "I'm not dating." He stated, "I don't know if you know this, but I have sort of a funny track record. Which is actually not that strange given my age. I'm a little freaked out right now about it, to be honest."
Before romancing Aniston in 2008, Mayer had special relationships with several actresses, including Minka Kelly, Jessica Simpson, and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Talking about his romances with those famous stars, the "Heartbreak Warfare" hitmaker told 51-year-old Ellen, "For some reason, whoever I date has been famous for a while."
"I can't sit here and be like, 'Oh please, let me live my life in private with this famous person who's been around for 15 years'," he further explained. "I have to figure out what are the things that I ask for and sign up for, in terms of cause and effect. The last thing you want is to see me bashing my head going, 'I'm shocked that I'm being followed right now!' "
During the interview, Mayer also shared about his new resolution for 2010. "I have a good heart. I think I may have gotten lost a couple of times, but so does everybody. I'm just going to hunker down. 2010 is a peaceful year for me, no matter what I do," he claimed.
