Reese and Jake are said calling off their two-year romance because the 'Legally Blonde' beauty is reportedly not yet ready to take her romance with the 'Brothers' actor to the next level.
New speculation on
Reese Witherspoon and
Jake Gyllenhaal's split news have come out. A close friend to the "
Brothers" hunk has told that the twosome, who began dating in 2007, broke up since she was not ready to take her relationship with him to the next level.
"The relationship was at the point where they either got engaged or broke up," the so-called friend confirmed. "There is no doubt that they love each other very much, but Reese wasn't ready to say 'I do.' And if she wasn't ready after two years of dating, Jake wondered if she ever would be."
E! Online, additionally, mentioned that Reese and Jake had called off their relationship about two weeks ago. Of the reason of the break-up, a source said, "They needed time to figure it out and they were on different coasts. When they were finally together, they talked it out and decided they're not going to be together anymore."
Another source later claimed the split was "completely amicable." The source added, "There are no other people involved. The relationship just ended. It just fizzled. But they also wanted to be careful and private about it because of Reese's kids."
Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal's break-up reports first emerged in late November as a source close to the "
Four Christmases" beauty allegedly told People magazine about the split. The rumors were quick to be denied by the pair's representatives, though.
Just days after the reps came out with the denial, X17 Online claimed to have photographed Jake's female assistant to Reese's Brentwood home. The assistant reportedly took two pieces of luggage from her pad and bring them to the house of the "
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time" actor.
