Having been the judges and audience's favorite throughout the season, the 20-year-old krumper wins 'So You Think You Can Dance' despite his injury during the finale.
A new winner of "So You Think You Can Dance" has been crowned on Wednesday, December 16, and it was krumper Russell Ferguson who came out as America's favorite dancer. Having little training and no experience in the type of dances required for the competition, the 20-year-old has been the favorite among the judges and audience alike throughout season six.
During the result show finale, however, the krumper wasn't able to perform on stage. Within the first 45 minutes, he was seen limping onto the stage with the help of fellow competitor Ryan Di Lillo for the first cut. It was revealed that he broke his ankle after a routine. To host
Cat Deeley, he shared, "I messed my leg up".
It was then announced that Di Lillo finished in sixth place, followed by wife Ashleigh Di Lello in fifth, Ellenore Scott in fourth, Kathryn McCormick in third and Jakob Karr in second. After learning that he has won the competition, Russell said, "I just want to thank everybody so much. This means everything to me. I've been dreaming of this since, I don't know, since I was born. I came out and was, like, 'Aaah!'"
The December 16 finale was made merry by the performances from guest singers.
Leona Lewis,
Adam Lambert and
Jennifer Lopez each took the stage in between the announcements of the dancers' final position. Leona belted out "
Avatar" theme "I See You", Adam performed "Wha Da Ya Want From Me" and Jennifer sang "Louboutins".
