'Lily Allen is sad to announce that she will not be able to participate in Mencap's Big Noise Session this weekend,' a spokeswoman for the 'Smile' singer shares with the press.
Lily Allen won't make an appearance at Mencap's Big Noise Session due to illness. On Friday, December 18, her decision to pull out from the gig was announced through a spokeswoman. "Lily Allen is sad to announce that she will not be able to participate in Mencap's Big Noise Session this weekend," she stated.
The rep went on to explain the singer's health, "Lily has been diagnosed with a severe recurrent throat infection which has also led her to cancel two television shows this week." She added, "She deeply regrets having to cancel her appearance this weekend and hopes that fans will enjoy the rest of the amazing bill on the show and lend their support to the incredible work done by learning disability charity, Mencap."
Mencap's Big Noise Session is set to be held at Exeter Castle on Saturday, December 19. The charity show is headlined by
Coldplay and
La Roux. Of the gig, Coldplay's lead singer
Chris Martin had said, "I don't think there could be a better way to end the decade - La Roux, Lily Allen, Jo Whiley - what more can you ask for? We're proud to support Mencap and, for me, it's exciting to play my hometown. We haven't played there since 2000. It's going to be really, really special."
After experiencing success with her debut album "Alright, Still", Lily Allen released her sophomore effort "It's Not Me, It's You" in the U.S. on February 10. It debuted at #5 on the U.S. Billboard 200 with 70,000 copies being sold on its first week. The album's lead single "The Fear" made it to number eighty on the Billboard Hot 100.
