World Awards Media was forced to cancel the show which is aimed to pay homage to the King of Pop after its main sponsor pulled off their financial support.
Having been postponed once in September,
Michael Jackson's tribute concert is likely having an unsure future again after World Awards Media, the show's organizer, went into liquidation and lost its main sponsor. "The company cannot sign any new contracts and will certainly not plan any new events," company's liquidator Martin Schneider told The New York Times.
Martin first announced the company's liquidation on November 30. Despite the cancellation by World Awards Media, former chief promoter Georg Kindel said that he didn't know whether
Jermaine Jackson, who originally initiated the gig, would go ahead with the concert on his own or not.
Michael Jackson tribute concert was at first intended to be held at Schoenbrunn Palace in Vienna back in September. At that time, the tribute gig had to be pushed back since some performers,
Mary J. Blige,
Chris Brown, and
Natalie Cole, were having conflicting schedules and thus were unable to perform at the the show.
