While Jeff Bertolotti calls his 32-year-old sister a victim of Hollywood, an insider claims that the actress often went 'in and out of consciousness' on the set of 'Something Wicked'.
's half-brother Jeff Bertolotti has spoken up about her sudden passing. In an interview with People, Jeff blamed Hollywood for her death. Claiming that he was not be able to see his sister anymore since 2001 after "the Hollywood walls went up", he admitted that their communication stopped with an unreturned phone call to her manager.
"People come into the town with their dreams and get chewed up alive and those who make it get chewed up alive anyway. And that's what happened to Brittany," he expressed his anger. "She's a casualty of that town."
Though admitting he didn't know anything about his sister, her screenwriter husband Simon Monjack, and other people around her in the past few years, Jeff continued to utter his disappointment, "I'm not saying it's their fault, but I do think they should have taken care of her better." He added, "I think she should have been cared for."
"Look, if she died at 32, something is not right," Jeff went on. "What happened? I don't get it. At 32 years old something happened. I don't know what. I'm sure there was no foul play. It's just that something is wrong ... It's heartbreaking. I was crazy about that kid."
Brittany Murphy was pronounced dead at 10:04 A.M. on Sunday, December 20. On Monday, December 21, Simon Monjack stated that the "
8 Mile" actress "" before she passed away. "She had been tired at the end of the year," he shared. "She had made a couple movies."
Meanwhile, came out with a scoop suggesting the 32-year-old wasn't able to stay fully conscious during her recent filming for upcoming movie "
Something Wicked" in Oregon. "She'd go in and out of consciousness in the middle of takes," an insider said. "Her husband was her handler, he shuttled her around. She was barely there." The source further added Brittany had skipped the film's production for several times.
