Asked whether or not he will sing together with the 'Hannah Montana' star in the single, 46-year-old Bret says, 'I'll do some harmonies and stuff like that, but it's gotta be her version.'
Miley Cyrus had done a re-recording session for
Poison's single "Every Rose Has Its Thorn", but it doesn't mean that the teen sensation is going to duet with one particular member of the glam metal band. Bringing up the news was frontman
Bret Michaels, who mentioned that he will not sing together with the ex-girlfriend of
Nick Jonas in the song.
"Well, I'll do some harmonies and stuff like that, but it's gotta be her version," he said in a recent interview with MTV News. "I think that's what's going to make the song feel like she owns it. She's got a very contemporary twist to it ... it has to be what she feels and [producer] John Shanks feels what's playing on contemporary radio."
During the interview, 46-year-old Bret also noted that Miley had "nailed the song" because "she really knew she was doing". He elaborated, "She got in there and picked the guitar up. It was one of those nights that just worked. It was fun. It's gotta be her taking 'Every Rose' and making it all hers."
Recalling the first time he met the 17-year-old actress/singer, Bret said, "It was really, really simple." He added, "I think her first concert was Poison. She saw us at Nashville at the arena. It was her introduction into rock and roll."
