Upon receiving the title, the 'Fearless' singer shares her excitement, saying she doesn't see it coming and is grateful for the title.
2009 is definitely a bright year for
Taylor Swift. The 20-year-old country crooner has eight singles from her album "Fearless" charting at Top 50 of Billboard Hot 100 and received multiple awards. Still, the twinkle in her star is far from dimming as she has recently been dubbed entertainer of the year by the Associated Press (AP).
"I am so honored and so excited," Swift said of her new title during a phone interview with the AP. "This was so unexpected, and I could not be more grateful." The "Love Story" singer added that several nights of the year have been "golden and shiny" for her. She also mentioned that hosting "Saturday Night Live" is one of those sparkling moments.
Grateful for all the blessing, Swift further said that she is currently focusing on her next album. "The second that I put out 'Fearless,' the moment that album came out and I was done with it, I started writing for my next album," she stated. "For this next record, that's all that I've been thinking about, that's all that my mind has been fixated on for the last year, and it's all that I'm going to be thinking about for this next year."
The "You Belong with Me" singer, moreover, revealed keys of her success, saying "I love to plan 20 steps ahead of myself." She shared further, "And it's really fun competition game that I play with myself, trying to top what I've done last."
Swift was elected entertainer of the year by newspaper editors and broadcast producers across the U.S. in a survey of AP members. One of the voters is Danielle L. Kiracofe, an entertainment editor for the Stars and Stripes, who said "In a time of 'made' musicians, she writes her own songs and has her own sparkly style. She's managed to do all of this with grace, class and poise - and without uttering a swear word, dancing on a pole or wearing next to nothing. At the age of 20."
Beside singing, Taylor Swift is also pursuing an acting career. She will be soon seen portraying Samantha Kenny in the upcoming movie "
Valentine's Day". She stars opposite such big names as
Julia Roberts,
Anne Hathaway,
Ashton Kutcher,
Jamie Foxx and her rumored boyfriend
Taylor Lautner. The film itself will be released in U.S. theaters on February 12, 2010.
