Portraying a bullied kid, the son of actor Will Smith takes a lesson in martial art from Jackie Chan to be able to stand up for himself.
Jaden Smith is Dre Parker in "The Karate Kid" and a look into his portrayal of the character are made available through the film's first trailer. Put out by Yahoo! Movies, the promo video gives out the scenes in which he is bullied by his peers, as well as his kung fu training with Jackie Chan's Mr. Han.
Opened with a scene where Dre has to leave all of his friends in Detroit, the sneak peek continues to show his new home in China. With no friends in a strange land, he faces a new challenge when he becomes a victim of bully at school. But, maintenance man Mr. Han comes along and teaches him how to stand up for himself.
"The Karate Kid" is a loose remake to the 1984 hit movie of the same name. Supported by Taraji P. Henson as Dre Parker's mother, the movie comes from the directing hands of Harald Zwart. Jaden Smith's parents, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, serve as producers. The action drama movie will see a U.S. release on June 11, 2011.
