Spreading the Christmas joy, the Hollywood power couple gives a $100,000 donation to the American SOS Children's Villages.
Angelina Jolie and her partner
Brad Pitt are into the spirit of giving this holiday season. The Hollywood couple has recently sent a gift of $100,000 to American SOS Children's Villages in Florida and Illinois. Announcing the donation made by the pair through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation was SOS Children's Villages - U.S.A.
"The Jolie-Pitt Foundation has been a strong and loyal supporter of SOS Children's Villages around the world," CEO Heather Paul stated. "We are deeply grateful that this year this couple has included in their generosity our villages in Illinois and Florida and our 300 children who call SOS 'home.' "
The 34-year-old Jolie, in the meantime, shared what she thinks of the organization. "We have seen first-hand the remarkable job SOS does to raise orphaned and abandoned children and keep families together," she said. "No one 'ages out' of an SOS Village: vocational training, advanced education, living assistance and moral support are there forever."
While the actress praised the work the organization did, Pitt uttered that the holiday season is behind his motivation for the donation. "In this holiday season, many of us take for granted that we are surrounded by loving family members," he said. "The poor outcomes for foster children indicate that we must do a much better job of supporting them."
Beside her achievement in film industry, Angelina Jolie is known for her humanitarian work. She is the appointed Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency. Together with her boyfriend Brad Pitt, she established a charitable organization by the name of Jolie-Pitt Foundation, giving initial donations of $1 million dollars each to Global Action for Children and Doctors Without Borders.
