Mariah Carey Could Be Vanessa Hudgens' Mom on Screen

Rumor has it, the R 'n' B diva and the 'High School Musical' beauty could team up to play a mother and daughter singing duo who audition for a TV talent show.

There is a chance that Mariah Carey will share screen with Vanessa Hudgens for her next feature film project. Words on the streets are, the five-time Grammy-winning singer is in talks to take on the role of a mother to the "Bandslam" beauty for a comedy movie that is based around the popular TV talent shows, "The X Factor" and "American Idol".

The 39-year-old is said to be keen on doing another film after gaining praises for her part in "Precious: Based on the Novel PUSH by Sapphire". "Mariah is eager to capitalize on her acclaimed performance in Precious with another movie," an insider told Showbiz Spy. "There is one project where she would play one half of a mother and daughter singing duo who audition for a TV talent show. Vanessa Hudgens has already been approached for the daughter role."

Despite her eagerness to do another film, the "Obsessed" singer is reported to be apprehensive about the part. "The only sticking point seems to be whether Mariah feels comfortable playing mom to a teenager," the insider continued on by pointing out the reason behind her doubt. "She's a little sensitive when it comes to her age."

One of U.S. most successful female artists, Mariah Carey has tried her luck in the movie industry for several times before. She landed a minor role in 1999's "The Bachelor", before headlining the much-criticized "Glitter". She has recently been honored Supporting Actress of the Year at Capri Hollywood's International Film Festival for her portrayal of Mrs. Weiss in "Precious".

Vanessa Hudgens, in the meantime, is known for her Gabriella Montez role in the "High School Musical" series. She was last seen portraying the character in "High School Musical 3: Senior Year". Her upcoming feature projects include the modern adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast", "Beastly", and the Zack Snyder-directed action comedy "Sucker Punch".
