Taylor Swift Is No Supergirl

Contrary to reports that Taylor Swift has been considered by film producers to take on the lead role in 'Supergirl: The Love Story', DC Comics' spokesperson insists the story has no basis.

Despite rumors to the contrary, Taylor Swift won't be seen donning a superhero costume for DC Comics adaptation, "Supergirl: The Love Story". Days after the rumors were swirling around, DC spokesperson put on the brake, saying "I'd love to know who the 'Hollywood insider' is, because that's as clueless a thing as I've heard all year."

The 20-year-old singer was first linked to the proposed feature film in late December 2009. At the time, it was reported that she has being considered as the front-runner to play Supergirl as movie bosses are desperate to bring the Girl of Steel back to the big screen. One of the reasons for her being considered was said to be her clean sheets.

"Hollywood is short of female heroes and the time is right for a new Supergirl," an industry insider is quoted by Hollyscoop as saying. "She has all the right elements to be a positive role model to young girls. A number of young stars are being mentioned for the title role in a Supergirl movie and possible TV spin-off and Taylor is top of that list."

While she won't be involved in "Supergirl: The Love Story", Taylor Swift has another movie project on her sleeves. She will be making her big screen debut in "Valentine's Day", which will be released in the U.S. on February 12. In the romantic drama, she stars opposite "Twilight Saga" hunk Taylor Lautner, playing his love interest.
