Teasing what the singing competition has in store for the new season in terms of contestants and judges, the promo video captures the comedienne promoting herself.
After releasing first picture of Ellen DeGeneres as the new "American Idol" judge, FOX follows it up with a new promo video. Teasing on a list of impressive guest judges during the audition round, this particular TV spot highlights on the host of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" introducing herself as "the next American Idol...judge".
Ellen officially came in to replace former judge Paula Abdul on the singing competition show in September 2009. Upon the announcement of her involvement, the 51-year-old said, "I'm thrilled to be the new judge on 'American Idol'. I've watched since the beginning, and I've always been a huge fan. So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I'll save from not having to text in my vote!"
Season 9 of "American Idol" will be kicked off on Tuesday, January 12 on FOX. The first show will be the Boston audition in which Victoria Adams serves as guest judge. Other guest judges for the season include Joe Jonas, Neil Patrick Harris, Shania Twain, Katy Perry and Avril Lavigne. Ellen DeGeneres will be joining Simon Cowell and the rest of the judges on February 9 during the Hollywood week.
