Blake Lively has joined the cast ensemble of "
Green Lantern". According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), the 22-year-old TV actress will act in the Warner Bros.' superhero film opposite leading man
Ryan Reynolds as she has beaten her competitions in nailing the role of Hal Jordan's love interest, Carol Ferris.
THR also reported that Lively's role actually called for a slightly older actress, but the "Gossip Girl" star has dazzled Warners as well as filmmakers with her audition. The studio was also said impressed with her work in "
The Town". Should previous rumors are true, she has put aside the such like
Diane Kruger,
Jennifer Garner and
Eva Green for the part.
"Green Lantern" centers on Hal Jordan, an ordinary man who was chosen by a dying alien named Abin Sur to receive a green energy-powered ring used for protecting the planet. Martin Campbell takes the directing job for the film. Shooting will start in Louisiana in March for a June 17, 2011 U.S. release. With Lively being secured as female lead, Warners will move on with the casting process for Dr. Hector Hammond and Sinestro.
