Answering the question about his experience in the 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' show, the Season 7 'American Idol' winner admits, 'It was educational to say the least.'
Having made a guest star appearance on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition",
David Cook admits he is better with a guitar than tools. Answering the question about the priceless experience he had on the show, he confessed to PopEater, "I'm probably better off with a guitar. It was educational to say the least."
Beside confessing his weak spot, the winner of "American Idol" season 7 told the site that it is an honor to be involved with the show since he got the chance to help those in need. He said, "I think what they do on the show is fantastic - never mind the awesome reach of trying to tear down and build a new house in a week, but really just doing something for a family that deserves it."
The "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" episode featuring Cook as the guest star is set to air on Sunday, January 10. In it, the 27-year-old rocker along with the show host Ty Pennington will trade his guitar with tools to build a house for The Cowan Family of Bunker Hill, Indiana, whose 12-year-old daughter Kori suffers from a congenital blood disease.
David Cook has been known for his involvement in several charities. On May 3, 2009, he participated in "Race for Hope", an annual 5k run to fight against brain tumors in Washington D.C just a day after his eldest brother, Adam, died from brain cancer. The "Light On" singer finished the 5k with a time of 28 minutes and along with his team managed to raise $136,376.16 for the cause.
The Texas-born singer is currently in Vancouver working on another record. In his recent interview with Zap2It, he stated no duets planned for the album, but he doesn't oppose to the idea of collaborating with other artists. He also revealed that as for now, he doesn't have any plan in doing a cover song. Instead he's been focusing on writing new songs.
