Nicole Scherzinger and Lewis Hamilton Split, Rep Confirmed

After two years of dating, The Pussycat Dolls singer and the Formula One driver decide to put their careers first and go separate ways.

Reports that Nicole Scherzinger and Lewis Hamilton are drifting apart are apparently true after all. The spokesman of the two stars, as reported by The Sun, has released a statement confirming that the lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls and the Formula One driver have called off their romance after two years of dating.

On the reason why, the rep didn't say much except mentioning that the former couple wants to put their careers first. "They have decided to go their separate ways," so read the statement. "They want to focus fully on their careers and will remain close friends." Hamilton is currently busy prepping for new F1 season, while Scherzinger is caught up with her music.

"It's sad because they did love each other," a pal told The Daily Mirror. "When you saw them trackside together they were always laughing and Nicole would give him a little peck on the cheek before the race. But they had to be realistic. There was no way they could continue their careers and stay together - it was getting way too stressful. No one else is involved - their careers just got in the way."

Nicole Scherzinger began romancing Lewis Hamilton after she split from actor Talan Torriero in August 2007. In September 2009, the pair was hit with break-up rumor. Reports at the time blamed Hamilton for the split, suggesting he was not yet ready to settle down and start a family with the 31-year-old singer. However, the race car driver was quick to come up with denial, claiming he and Nicole "were very much in love" and are "definitely still together."

Just before Christmas, story of the two being on the brink of breaking up once again surfaced. The Daily Mirror reported the couple has not met each other for about three weeks because of their respective hectic schedules. A source shared, "Nicole was in London last week and was desperate to hook up with Lewis but she was busy in the studio while he is on a European training camp, and couldn't come back."
