Blake Lively Deems Her Sex Scene in 'The Town' Tragic

Portraying a poor woman in the Ben Affleck-directed crime drama, the 'Gossip Girl' star admits she has a sex scene in the film, but insists that it 'isn't supposed to be a steamy one'.

There will be a sex scene involving Blake Lively in the upcoming movie "The Town", but it won't be a steamy one. In an interview with Esquire, the "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee" actress uncovers that instead of offering a raunchy sex act, she will be delivering a tragic one.

"I have a sex scene in this film, and that's never comfortable," the Penn Badgley's girlfriend said. "You think, Oh, that's going to be so awkward. But this scene isn't supposed to be a steamy one - it's sort of tragic, because this girl is so desperately trying to keep this man interested. It's more intimate than most sex scenes. I'm pretty much crying in it."

The sex scene isn't the only tough part the "Accepted" beauty has for the movie though. She shared, "Every scene that I had was a heavy scene. I mean the scenes were - I hate to sound dramatic, but they were cataclysmic. I'm screaming, I'm crying, I'm fighting, I'm on drugs, I'm in the hospital. They were all very, very rough. Rough to perform, rough to watch or to experience. But they were rewarding, because you feel like, wow, I can do that. I did that."

When talking about her role as Serena van der Woodsen on The CW's "Gossip Girl", Lively said that after three seasons playing the part, it is not hard for her to slip into the character. "I can snap into Serena very easily," she said. "The way I dress as Serena is pretty much the way I dress as me. I'm living in New York City, shooting in New York City. I'm in a comfort zone."

Blake Lively is featured as the cover girl of Esquire magazine's February 2010 issue, which will be on the newsstands across the U.S. January 19. In the cover shot, she is pictured donning leather jacket and ditching her pants. As for her "The Town" role, she will be seen starring as single mother Krista Coughlin opposite actor/director Ben Affleck.
