Although his shooting schedule for 'John Carter of Mars' forces him to back out from being the TV series' regular, the Tim Riggins depicter may still be seen 'toward the end' of season five.
The rumors are true,
Taylor Kitsch won't be featured as much as he used to be when "Friday Night Lights" returns on small screen with season five. Executive producer Jason Katims confirmed the matter to TV Guide Magazine, explaining that conflicting shooting schedules between his feature project and the TV series hinders him from returning as series regular.
Acknowledging that the 28-year-old actor has a lot of feature film projects on hand, Katims said, "Because this was a big opportunity for him, we wanted to let him do that." The executive producer additionally stated that it doesn't mean the actor won't appear on the new season at all. "We'll stay in close contact with production and try to get him for as many episodes as possible," he said.
In another interview, Katims gave E! Online more details on what movie project that conflicted Taylor's schedule with the series. He stated, "Taylor is shooting a movie [John Carter of Mars] and it doesn't work out with his schedule to have him on as a series regular for FNL next season."
He also assured fans that there is plan to include the "
X-Men Origins: Wolverine" actor in the episodes toward the end of the season. "I'm sure you will see Taylor next season," he said. "We are planning to have him come back toward the end of the season, and possibly do a couple along the way if we can work it out with production."
"We love Taylor and we are doing everything within our power to get him on season five as much as possible," Katims said. He went on to praise Kitsch, "Taylor is not only incredibly talented but a real guy. Passionate, devoted, solid. We've loved having him on the show but we wanted to support him in this and give him a chance to shoot the movie, which will be good for his career."
