Although previous report has named the 'Twilight Saga' hunk as one of the final two actors for the title role, a new one claims that 'another unnamed but better established actor' has been auditioned.
The leading role of "Conan" could be slipping a bit further from
Kellan Lutz's grasp. While earlier report has placed the Emmett Cullen of the "Twilight Saga" series in the final two actors in the run for the part, Deadline Hollywood (DH) has come out with the news that Nu Image/Millennium and partner Lionsgate Films have expanded the list into three actors.
Mike Fleming of DH reported that the studios have decided to audition "another unnamed but better established actor" before they make any decision for the part once made famous by
Arnold Schwarzenegger. Should the story is true, 24-year-old Lutz could be facing a stronger competition than
Jason Momoa, the actor who stars as Ronon Dex on "Stargate Atlantis".
The role of Conan has been described to be in his 20s to early 30s. He is powerfully-built and broad-shouldered Caucasian with piercing blue eyes and square-cut black mane. As for his character traits, Conan is a savage killer that has matured into the refinement his father tried to teach him when he was young. He is very smart, almost inhumanly strong, and very cunning.
"Conan" will will be directed by "
Friday the 13th" helmer Marcus Nispel. Principal photography is scheduled to be kicked off in Bulgaria in February before being pushed back to March 15. There is yet a specific date set for the release of the movie produced by Avi Lerner, Joe Gatta and Fredrik Malmberg.
Kellan Lutz was last seen in the big screen portraying Emmett in "
The Twilight Saga's New Moon". He once starred as Rick Leland in "
Prom Night", and will be seen starring in another horror thriller with his role as Dean in "
A Nightmare on Elm Street". In summer 2010, he'll reprise his Emmett role in "
The Twilight Saga's Eclipse".
