Lady GaGa Scores a Hat Trick of BRITs 2010 Nominations

The 'Bad Romance' singer joins the likes of Lily Allen, Pixie Lott and JLS among several others in collecting triple nominations for the 30th Annual BRIT Awards.

Dance queen Lady GaGa is not only making her name in the U.S., but also in British. Having been nominated for 5 nods at the upcoming 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, the 23-year-old singer who made her big break with single "Just Dance" will be competing for three trophies at the 30th Annual BRIT Awards.

On Monday, January 18, the "Bad Romance" singer has been unveiled to be among the nominees of the awards' International category. In the announcement made at IndigO2 at London's O2, she was uncovered to be on the run for the titles of International Female Solo Artist, International Album and International Breakthrough Act.

GaGa will get a challenge from Empire of the Sun in International Album and International Breakthrough Act. She also is up against Jay-Z, who is also nominated for International Male Solo Artist, for the Album title, and will have to win over Taylor Swift for the Breakthrough kudo as well. For the Female Solo nod, she is lined up along with Rihanna and Shakira.

Lady GaGa is not the only artist getting triple nominations at BRITs 2010. Lily Allen, Pixie Lott, JLS and Florence and the Machine are also up for three trophies as well. Allen and Lott, in particular, will battle each other for two of their nods, MasterCard British Album and British Single.

The BRIT Awards 2010 will take place on Tuesday, February 16 at London's Earls Court Arena. It will be broadcast live on ITV with comedian Peter Kay serving as host. "For the 30th BRITs show we're planning a landmark event that truly celebrates this occasion," Chairman of The BRITs committee Ged Doherty said.

"The BRITs is the U.K. - and Europe's - premier music show and one of the biggest media events of the year," he went on saying. "The show has seen many changes in recent years and I have no doubt we will continue to build on the spectacular success of this year's show."
