'Dancing and performing is what I do and being a judge on this show will allow me to give creative feedback to the newest and hottest dancers on the rise,' the singer comments on him joining the show.
"America's Best Dance Crew" has found its third judge in
Omarion. On Thursday, January 21, the R 'n' B singer has been revealed as the new judge joining JC Chasez and
Lil Mama on the dancing-competition series. He is brought in to replace Shane Sparks, who was arrested in December 2009 and charged with eight counts of felony child molestation.
Expressing his excitement on joining the show, the former B2K member said in a statement, "I'm so excited to be a judge on MTV's 'America's Best Dance Crew.' " He further confessed, "Dancing and performing is what I do and being a judge on this show will allow me to give creative feedback to the newest and hottest dancers on the rise."
Liz Gateley, the senior vice president of series development for MTV, commented on Omarion's appointment saying, "He is an accomplished dancer, artist and actor who knows what makes a good dance crew performance." Executive producer Randy Jackson chimed in, "Omarion is a great friend, and I am looking forward to him joining the 'ABDC' family. Season five is going to be blazing hot."
"America's Best Dance Crew" will return to the small screen with season five. The new season will be debuted on MTV at 10 P.M. ET next Thursday, January 28. It will be followed with season two of "Taking the Stage" which will air immediately afterward at 11. Season four of the dance competition saw We Are Heroes as the winner.
25-year-old Omarion was known as the lead singer of B2K. Since his departure from the group, he has released three solo album, including the latest one "Ollusion" which was made available for purchase on January 12. Beside singing, the "I Get It In" singer has also made an appearance in several TV and feature films, including 2004's "
You Got Served".
