Planning to plant 10-foot steel security barrier around their superhouse in London, the Pepper Potts of 'Iron Man' and her Coldplay's lead vocalist husband have made their neighbors upset.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have made their neighbors upset after buying a third house in the North London street. According to The Daily Mail, the celebrity couple have caused their neighbors to complain as they plan on changing the house's wooden fence into a 10-foot steel security barrier around the residences.
While the pair reportedly will build the fence for safety concern, an angry resident came out with the statement over the objection. "As neighbors, we have had years of their building works," the resident first protested, before further adding, "Now the fence is just going to look ridiculous and we plan to object."
"They are turning a Victorian house into a fortress," the householder commented. "They have taken down trees so they can park their flash cars in the driveway and are putting a huge swimming pool in the back garden. They said the trees were diseased but you can say anything when you have that amount of money. They are using their power and riches to get what they want."
Another irritated neighbor, Roswitha Gerlitz, stated her disapproval by stressing, "I can understand it because they want their privacy but I think it's a bit unnecessary. If it's a big metal fence it could look quite hostile and awful." She moreover explained, "I don't think it's necessary. Their privacy is respected anyway."
In 2004, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin bought their original house from
Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes for 2.5 million pounds. They then added it with a second house that cost 3.1 million pounds, creating a 33-room super house. Their newly-purchased 435,000-pound third house, in the meantime, will be used as their staff's house.
