Asked about his 'Gossip Girl' stint, the 'Dirty Sexy Money' actor says, 'Three years ago I would have been playing the older man in her life and now, all of a sudden, I'm playing her dad.'
William Baldwin has landed a guest role on "Gossip Girl", but he's apparently not jumping for joy for the part as
Blake Lively's estranged father. On the red carpet of the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Saturday, January 23, the Patrick Darling of "Dirty Sexy Money" admitted to Access Hollywood that landing the part hurts.
The 46-year-old actor came out with the statement in response to brother
Alec Baldwin's question, "So you're gonna go play Blake Lively's dad on 'Gossip Girl?' " The star of "Backdraft" further pointed out, "Three years ago I would have been playing the older man in her life and now, all of a sudden, I'm playing her dad."
Rubbing more salt to William's wound, Alec gushed, "It seems like yesterday you'd be kissing Blake Lively. Now you're trying to prevent other men from kissing Blake Lively." To this comment, the younger Baldwin responded, "I would've been Blake Lively's lollipop three years ago. Now I'm Grandpa."
"Gossip Girl" is currently on hiatus. The CW's popular series will return to small screen on March 8 with an episode titled "Jenny, Full of Grace". William Baldwin himself will make his guest-starring appearance as Dr. William van der Woodsen, Serena's father, on the April 26 episode.
