On the backstage of 'Hope For Haiti Now' telethon, the 'American Idol' alum sings an impromptu rendition of Kurt Bestor's 'Prayer of the Children'.
Although he didn't get the chance to rock the stage of "Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief" telethon last Friday, January 22,
David Archuleta did showcase his singing talent at the charity event. MTV correspondent Jim Cantiello has just brought up a video of him singing on the backstage of the telethon.
The so-called "a spur-of-the-moment mini-concert" came to be after another MTV News correspondent Sway asked the 19-year-old if he wanted to share a song with the world. Obliging to the request, the pop singer who finished second on "American Idol" season 7 gave an impromptu rendition of Kurt Bestor's "Prayer of the Children".
Cantiello posted the video on MTV Newsroom along with explanation that the move was done by requests from Archuleta's fans. "I casually tweeted that we had witnessed a spur-of-the-moment mini-concert from Archuleta, and within seconds my Twitter was inundated with pleas from David diehards desperate to see the video footage that I had just bragged about," he wrote.
In the report, Cantiello also noted that David Archuleta's fans have spent the weekend to raise more money for Haiti in the form of a "virtual cupcake drive". He furthermore added, "By Tuesday afternoon, a generous group of fans had raised $3,850 in mine and David Archuleta's names!" The virtual cupcake drive timeline can be checked out at .
