Rihanna Declares Her Single Status

Despite the fact that she has been spotted cozying up to baseball player Matt Kemp, the 'Umbrella' hitmaker insists she is still single and 'going to the Grammys alone, as always!'.

Rihanna has shot down speculation that she is romancing Los Angeles Dodgers star Matt Kemp. The 21-year old singer made the revelation when appearing on 104.3 MY FM's "Valentine in the Morning" show on Thursday, January 28. Asked who is her date for the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, she blurted, "I'm still single, if that's what you really want to ask!"

Before uttering the "single" word, the "Russian Roulette" singer declared that she is going solo to the annual music awards, at which she has been nominated along with Jay-Z and Kanye West for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Rap Song. "I'm going to the Grammys alone, as always! Even when I was in a relationship, I always have gone alone," so she claimed.

Rihanna and Matt Kemp had been photographed showing a little PDA while they were vacationing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Asked her response to the photos, the Barbadian singer played it coy by saying only that the trip "was a blast!" While she remained mum on her possible new romance, Kemp's agent Dave Stewart denied the two are romantically involved saying, "I think dating might be a stretch at this point."

Romance aside, Rihanna also expressed her excitement being a nominee for this year's Grammys. "This was actually the first piece of music we did since the last Grammys," she said. "It's exciting that it's nominated." She furthermore gushed that she, Jay-Z and Kanye "cannot wait", adding "We hope we bring home the bacon, but if not, it's great that it was nominated."

The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards will take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles on January 31. It will be aired live on CBS. Lady GaGa, Pink, Taylor Swift, Black Eyed Peas, Lady Antebellum and Beyonce Knowles are among the performers for the special night. Beyonce dominates the nomination with 10 nods, while Taylor follows with 8 counts.
