Securing the coveted trophies for their hit 'Use Somebody', the rock band upsets Beyonce Knowles, Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards.
Announced as winners of Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards earlier,
Kings of Leon has added their Grammy collection. On Sunday, January 31, the rock band was unraveled as the recipients one of Grammy's top honors, Record of the Year.
Like the two awards they scored earlier, the four-men band took the crown for their single "Use Somebody". Presented the gramophone statuette by
Ringo Starr and
Norah Jones, they won over such strong competitors, including other multiple Grammy winners
Beyonce Knowles,
Black Eyed Peas,
Lady Gaga and
Taylor Swift.
Beside Kings of Leon, winners of the Best Rock Album and Best News Artist have been made public as well. The Best Rock Album kudo went to
Green Day for "21st Century Breakdown". The rock band beat out
U2 and
Dave Matthews Band for the trophy. Meanwhile, Best New Artist nod was given to
Zac Brown Band who became the first country artist to win this title since
Carrie Underwood.
2010 Grammy Awards is aired live on CBS from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Lady GaGa,
Pink, Taylor Swift, Black Eyed Peas,
Lady Antebellum and
Beyonce Knowles are among the performers for the special night. A special 3-D
Michael Jackson tribute has been shown, before
Lionel Richie presented the King of Pop's kids with their father's lifetime achievement award.
