The winner of two 2010 Grammys has reportedly been recruited by Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie to record the Haitian charity single at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards.
Lady GaGa will be contributing to the 25th anniversary remake of "We Are the World" to benefit Haiti relief. The winner of two 2010 Grammys has reportedly come on board to the star-studded ensemble along with a number of other big name musicians that include
Eminem,
Jay-Z and
Justin Timberlake.
According to E! Online, the 23-year-old has been recruited by
Quincy Jones and
Lionel Richie themselves. She was reportedly approached to join the star-studded line-up, which also include
Bono,
Jason Mraz,
Akon,
Jennifer Hudson,
Carlos Santana and
Toni Braxton, at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night, January 31.
All of the musicians involved in the remaking of "We Are the World" have gathered on Monday, February 1, to record the benefit track.
Justin Bieber, one of the singers involved has taken it to Twitter to share his thoughts on the recording. "today is a BIG day...im invited to sing on the remake of WE ARE THE WORLD...going to be in the room with some superstars singing for Haiti," he tweeted.
Hours later, the 15-year-old pop sensation followed up his tweet with another one, expressing his excitement to be a part of the project. "Singing We Are The World right now with
celine dion next to me!! Everyone is here!! I'm meeting everyone!! This is insane! Ok ok chill," he wrote on his Twitter page.
The original "We Are the Word" track was recorded in 1985 for African famine relief.
Michael Jackson,
Stevie Wonder,
Ray Charles,
Bruce Springsteen,
Tina Turner and
Diana Ross were among those taking part for the track. The remake is done to mark the 25th anniversary of the song, and all proceeds will go to Haiti relief effort.
