Having landed a guest role on 'How I Met Your Mother', the 'Cowboy Casanova' crooner nails a supporting role in a movie based on the story of teen surfer Bethany Hamilton.
Carrie Underwood will be making her way onto the big screen. A representative for the "Cowboy Casanova" singer has recently confirmed to Us Magazine that the country crooner has landed a supporting role in "
Soul Surfer", a movie based on the story of Bethany Hamilton, the teen surfer whose left arm was severed by a tiger shark in October 2003.
Underwood will take on the role of Sarah Hill, a youth counselor at Hamilton's church, in the movie. To People Magazine, real life Hamilton has shared her excitement over the joining of the 26-year-old, "I can't wait to see her on the set." On the character to be portrayed by the Grammy-winning singer, the 19-year-old surfer said that Hill "has been my best friend since I was very young. After my shark attack, she always knew what to say to push me on."
As the filming is expected to begin next week, the fiancee of Mike Fisher is scheduled to fly to the Hawaiian island of Oahu hours after her appearance at the Super Bowl in Miami, Florida on Sunday, February 7. She will be joined by
AnnaSophia Robb,
Dennis Quaid and
Helen Hunt in the cast ensemble of the inspirational biopic, which is slated to hit U.S. theaters in summer 2010.
Though "Soul Surfer" will be Carrie Underwood's first feature film, acting is not something new to the winner of "American Idol" season four. She has recently finished filming her guest-starring part on "How I Met Your Mother". Her episode is scheduled to be aired sometime in March. Sharing about the experience, the 26-year-old singer wrote on her blog stating that she had "a blast" and the cast and crew "made me feel right at home."
