Having secured a lead role in 'Max Steel', the Jacob Black of the 'Twilight Saga' series agrees to bring to life Hasbro's very flexible action figure for Universal Pictures.
Taylor Lautner is on the way of establishing himself as action hero specialist. After landing the titular role in "
Max Steel", the Jacob Black of the "Twilight Saga" series has secured yet another superhero movie. On Friday, February 5, Universal Pictures announced that the teen star has been set to star in "
Stretch Armstrong".
"In the past two years, Taylor has emerged as a real star at the global box office," Universal's Co-Chairman Donna Langley commented on the joining of the 17-year-old. "He brings the perfect balance of energy and athleticism to the role of an unlikely super hero with a fantastic super power. We couldn't be more pleased that he has agreed to be our Stretch."
Based on Hasbro's iconic action figure made popular in the 1970s, "Stretch Armstrong" will be presented as a 3-D superhero adventure. "
Bruce Almighty" writer Steve Oedekerk provided the screenplay. Producer Brian Grazer will team up with Hasbro's Brian Goldner and Bennet Schneir as producers. It is expected to hit theaters across the U.S. in 2012.
Taylor Lautner began to catch people attention when he bulked up to secure his role in "
The Twilight Saga's New Moon". In December 2009, the
Robert Pattinson's co-star was officially signed to play crime-fighting Max Steel. He will soon be seen playing opposite
Taylor Swift in "
Valentine's Day" and reprising his Jacob role in "
The Twilight Saga's Eclipse".
