30 Seconds to Mars got a bomb threat scare from an unknown man during their appearance on an event in West Hollywood on Thursday evening, February 4. It turned out that they didn't have to worry though. Police confirmed to E! News that the bomb threat was a false one and they didn't find any explosives.
"The bomb squad was called on a suspicious package at 7700 Melrose Avenue, and when they went there, they just found money in the package," a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department explained to E! about the fake bomb incident. The rep added, "No explosives were found."
A watch commander at the Wilshire division also told the publication that the man is currently in custody. "There was an individual taken into custody, and they are still in custody," the commander said. "The investigation is ongoing with major crimes." The police refused to reveal the person's identity, except that he might be mentally ill.
TMZ reported on February 5 that fans of the "
Lord of War" actor saw the man rushing into the building while carrying a package. He then called Leto by name and informed the actor that he carried explosives. A member of the band along with a security guard then acted fast by tackling the man and waited until police came to put him under arrest.
Shortly after being evacuated, Jared Leto told the crowd about the bomb, adding that "it's official, we have the craziest fans in the world." It was reported that no one was hurt and the band's performance was rescheduled for Friday night on February 5.
