Jessica Alba 'Had a Hard Time Agreeing With Marriage'

The 'Machete' actress recently reveals in an interview that she took her time to think before agreeing to marry her husband Cash Warren because she felt the tradition of marriage has been 'warped'.

Jessica Alba has recently opened up she had a hard time agreeing with marriage. Through a U.K. edition of Cosmopolitan magazine, the "Valentine's Day" actress confessed she took her time to think before she agreed to marry her husband Cash Warren. At the time, she felt the tradition of marriage has been "warped."

"I had a hard time agreeing with marriage at all because I feel like it's been warped," Alba told the mag. "Originally, it was two families coming together to make a stronger family. It was about survival, not love or soul mates." The 28-year-old actress further added, "And now the way they market marriage, even as a kid through Disney movie, is that it's all about Prince Charming sweeping you off your feet."

In the interview, the star of "The Love Guru" expressed her dislike towards the idea of having to be "the princess" on the big day. "There's this mentality that you need the big dress and the big day, the day every girl gets to be a princess. I didn't agree with any of that." She also added that the tradition of obeying husband is "a load of crap", adding, "you should honor yourself too, and all your friends."

When asked about what changed her mind into finally marrying Warren, the "Sin City 2" actress reasoned "the one person you can choose to bring into your life as your family and to have that unconditional love with is your husband and wife. I'm choosing you as my family and we're going to love each other through thick and thin."

Jessica Alba met Cash Warren on the set of "Fantastic Four" in 2004, while he worked as an assistant to director Tim Story. They announced their engagement in December 2007 and tied the knot in May 2008. The couple have a daughter together, Honor Marie Warren, who was born on June 27, 2008 at the Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
