Director Garry Marshall is expected to make his return as helmer to the star-studded romcom's sequel entitled 'New Year's Eve', which is planned to be shot at the end of 2010.
"
Valentine's Day" is yet to open in theaters across the U.S., but report has come out that New Line Cinema is giving it a spin-off treatment with "
New Year's Eve". According to Variety, this new film will have some of the characters featured in the original star-studded ensemble comedy and will be set in New York City on New Year's Eve.
Helmer Garry Marshall is expected to make his return to the directing seat with the plans for shooting being scheduled at the end of 2010 for late 2011 release. Producers Mike Karz and Wayne Rice as well as screenwriter Katherine Fugate will also return. While it is mentioned that some of the characters will make a comeback, it is still unclear who they will be.
"Valentine's Day" itself chronicles five slightly interconnecting stories occurring during one Valentine's Day in Los Angeles. It has
Taylor Swift and
Taylor Lautner playing high school sweetheart,
Jessica Biel portraying an unlucky-in-love publicist,
Bradley Cooper as gay man whose lover a closeted football player.
Julia Roberts,
Emma Roberts,
Ashton Kutcher,
Jessica Alba,
Patrick Dempsey,
Jamie Foxx,
Jennifer Garner,
Topher Grace and
Anne Hathaway are also among the star-studded cast. The romantic comedy will come out in theaters this coming Friday on February 12.
