Keith Schillings, a lawyer for the Hollywood couple, confirms that Brangelina are suing the News of The World, saying it has made 'false and intrusive allegations' about the pair's break-up.
and have finally broken their silence over their alleged break-up by throwing a lawsuit. On Monday, February 8, Brangelina's London-based lawyer Keith Schillings confirmed that the couple had begun legal proceedings against the News of The World, the British newspaper which first run their split reports.

Schillings stated that a claim to begin the legal case has been filed by lawyers for the couple at London's High Court. He added that the tabloid had made "false and intrusive allegations" when reporting that the pair had agreed to divide assets worth $320 million and had made custody arrangements of their six children.

"The News of the World has failed to meet our clients' reasonable demands for a retraction of and apology for these false and intrusive allegations which have now been widely republished by mainstream news outlets," the attorney explained further. "We have advised them to bring proceedings which they have now done."

In his statement, Schillings also noted that Los Angeles divorce lawyer Sorrell Trope had denied that she had made contact with the couple as what has been reported. "I have had no contact from ... Angelina Jolie and/or Brad Pitt," her statement read. "I have never met ... your clients or had any involvement with either of them. The forgoing is true with respect to all other members of this firm."

On January 24, News of the World brought up the story that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had visited a divorce lawyer in December 2009. In the report, the publication mentioned that the two have begun to work out a separation deal. Hayley Barlow, a spokeswoman for the tabloid, has declined to comment on the couple's move to sue the paper.

Ever since the break-up rumor surfaced, Pitt and Jolie themselves have been spotted together two times. The first one was at the Directors Guilds of America Awards at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles on January 30, while the other one was at Super Bowl XLIV in Miami, Florida on Sunday, February 7 together with son Maddox.
