As L.A. County Coroner finally unsealed the King of Pop's full death report, it is unraveled that he did suffer from a chronic disorder that causes depigmentation in patches of skin.
While all eyes are on Dr. Conrad Murray who has been officially charged with involuntary manslaughter, a full autopsy report unraveled the truth about
Michael Jackson's skin and bone structure. Getting its hands on the report released by Los Angeles County Coroner on Monday, February 8, E! News reported that the King of Pop indeed suffered from vitiligo.
In , a coroner's investigator mentioned that the singer who died at the age of 50 suffered from a condition that causes discoloration of his dark skin, writing his "overall skin [had] patches of light and dark pigmented area." The report also mentioned that Michael had "dark skin discoloration resembling a tattoo" on the front half of his scalp, and had his eyeliner, lips and eyebrows permanently tattooed.
According to the report, Michael died of "acute propofol intoxication" administered by another in a manner that did not live up to medical standards. "The standard of care for administering propofol was not met," examiners wrote. "Recommended equipment for patient monitoring, precision dosing, and resuscitation was not present." Propofol is a powerful anesthetic usually given to a patient before a major surgery.
Dr. Conrad Murray previously stated that he gave Michael the anesthetic so that he can sleep. Anesthesiology consultant Selma Calmes rebutted Murray's defense, writing "There are NO reports of [propofol's] use for insomnia relief, to my knowledge. The only reports of its use in homes are cases of fatal abuse (first reported in 1992), suicide, murder and accident."
On the same day the autopsy result being unseald, Murray pleaded "not guilty" to charges of involuntary manslaughter in Michael Jackson's death. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Keith L. Schwartz set his bail at $75,000, three times the standard amount for involuntary manslaughter cases. The judge also forbade him from prescribing heavy sedatives to his patients, stating "I don't want you sedating people."
