The Lyla Garrity of 'Friday Night Lights' has scored a lead role as a sweet but strong-willed romantic on CBS' comedy pilot about four friends in New York who are on the prowl for love.

Minka Kelly will be among those searching for love on CBS' comedy pilot "True Love". The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the 26-year-old actress has landed a lead role on the ensemble comedy about four friends in New York, Henry, Kate, Larry and Connie, who are looking for love.
The "
500 Days of Summer" actress will star as Kate, who is described to be a pretty, clean-scrubbed Midwestern. Her sweet but strong-willed romantic character, in the story, falls in love with Henry at the top of the Empire State Building and often tackles her cousin and best friend, Connie, to the ground in order to get her way.
"True Love" is produced by Sony TV and CBS Studios. Matt Tarses of "Scrubs" and "Worst Week" serves as its producer as well as executive producer. He'll share the latter duty with his sister, Sony TV-based producer Jamie Tarses.
Minka Kelly is known for her Lyla Garrity role in NBC's "Friday Night Lights" and has previously starred on "Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue" as well as "What I Like About You". The Australian actress who reported to be engaged to New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter in 2009 will next be seen in "
The Roommate".
