Dental Surgery Delayed Lil Wayne's Sentencing to March

A Manhattan judge has granted the 'Lollipop' rapper's request for the rescheduling of his prison sentence because he suffers from a cracked tooth and is set to undergo surgery February 12.

Expected to begin his one-year prison term on Tuesday, February 9, Lil Wayne turns out to be escaping the jail sentencing for a month. MTV reported that on the particular day, a Manhattan judge has granted a request made by the Grammy Award-winning rapper to delay his jail sentence in order for him to have dental surgery.

The 27-year-old singer arrived at Manhattan court shortly after 2 P.M. accompanied by his label bosses, Birdman and Slim. Wearing a navy coat and black-framed glasses, he sat by lawyer Stacey Richman who informed Supreme Court Judge Charles Solomon that the rapper would need to postpone his sentence because he suffers from a cracked tooth.

Richman further explained that the rapper whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. is set to undergo surgery February 12 in Miami, adding that he will need a week to 10 days to recover from the procedure. While February 25 was offered as the date the "Lollipop" hitmaker to turn himself in, the judge instead rescheduled the sentencing to March 2.

Back in July 2007, police put Lil Wayne under arrest for bringing a 40-caliber handgun illegally on his tour bus. The hip hop star pleaded guilty for his criminal gun possession on October 22, 2009. His lawyer explained previously that the gun was purchased by his manager Cortez Bryant who had a legal permit to carry the weapon in Mississippi.

On Tuesday morning, the father of four said his goodbye to fans in a live streaming video. "I'm out this b*tch," he said. "To all my fans, my real fans, I really, really, really truly love you. I love you with all of me, for real. I'll probably be loving everything else because I love you so much. Thank you from the bottom [of my heart]. Do not forget about me 'cause I will forever think about you, and I cannot wait for you to see me again. I'm out."
