Paramount Pictures has confirmed the husband of Katie Holmes will once again get some action as IMF agent Ethan Hunt in the latest 'Mission: Impossible' movie, in addition to his producing job.
Tom Cruise will indeed reprise his role as IMF agent Ethan Hunt in "Mission: Impossible IV". After Deadline Hollywood broke the news that the 47-year-old actor has signed to star in the next installment of the "Mission: Impossible" series on Tuesday afternoon, February 9, MTV came out with a confirmation from Paramount Pictures.
In addition to being the leading man, Cruise will act as the fourth "M:I" producer along with "
Mission: Impossible 3" director J.J. Abrams. Expected to shoot the action movie sometime in summer 2010, the "
Valkyrie" actor and the "
Star Trek" helmer are currently searching for a director.
Paramount Pictures Chairman and CEO Brad Grey has opened up on what he thinks about the collaboration of the husband of actress
Katie Holmes and Abrams. "Tom and J.J. are great talents and we are excited to be working with them to re-launch this legendary franchise," the studio topper said as quoted by Deadline Hollywood.
"Mission: Impossible IV" has screenwriters Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec already attached to write the script. This latest installment of the "Mission: Impossible" series is slated to hit the U.S. theaters on a Memorial Day 2011 weekend.
Beside "Mission: Impossible 4", Tom Cruise is involved in another spy-themed movie. He recently completed filming "
Knight & Day" in which he takes on the role of an espionage agent. Joining him in the cast line-up are
Cameron Diaz and
Maggie Grace. The movie is scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters on July 2.
