On the Monday, February 15 edition of 'The View', Walters announced that she will end the 29-year run of her annual Oscars interview show this year.
2010 Academy Award-nominee
Sandra Bullock turns out to be among Barbara Walters' last guests for her annual Oscar night special. During the Monday, February 15 edition of "The View", the morning television host made the announcement that this year's "Barbara Walters Special" will be her last, ending a 29-year run.
"ABC has asked me to keep doing these specials as they have been so successful - and I'm thrilled we have such great stars and have such a wonderful show," the 80-year-old broadcast journalist shared when revealing her exit. She then added her reason for making the decision, "But to be honest, I feel like I've 'been there, done that.' "
"This special has been a labor of love for 29 years," Walters continued on. "I will always remember when
Hugh Jackman gave me a private lap dance or sitting down with the legendary Bette Davis or being taught to tango by
Al Pacino. It's those priceless moments that have made this special the Oscar tradition that it has become, but I truly feel enough is enough."
This year, her Oscar night special will be aired before the 82nd Annual Academy Awards on March 7. ABC has confirmed that Best Actress nominee
Sandra Bullock will be guest. In addition to her, Best Supporting Actress nominee
Mo'Nique will also be a guest on the show. A montage of memorable events from the special will be offered as well.
