Lady GaGa has been unveiled as the big winner of the 30th Annual BRIT Awards with three counts, while JLS follows closely behind with two each.
The winners of this year's BRIT Awards have been announced, and
Lady GaGa walked away as the one artist scoring the most nods on the special night. Nominated for the awards' international kudos, the dance queen swept away all three of the nominations she earned. She took home International Female Solo Artist, International Album and International Breakthrough Act.
In collecting her first prize International Breakthrough Act, the 23-year-old paid an emotional tribute to the late Alexander McQueen, referring him as Lee. "Thank you to Lee McQueen," she said in a strained voice. Upon receiving her Best International Album kudo for her effort "The Fame", she thanked fans and stated, "this award means even more to me cos I worked on this album for so long."
Other big winners on the night was
JLS. The British boyband took home two kudos from this year's BRITs, British Breakthrough Act and British Single for song "Beat Again". "We never ever thought this would happen, this is beyond our wildest dreams," Ortise Williams said on-stage when picking up their first prize.
Oasis and
Spice Girls got the BRITs Album of 30 Years and The BRITs Hits 30 respectively while
Lily Allen and
Jay-Z were among the other winners on the night as well.
Robbie Williams was the special honoree on the night. He was recognized for his Outstanding Contribution to Music.
The 30th Annual BRIT Awards was held at Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London on Tuesday, February 16. Broadcast live on ITV1, it was hosted by Peter Kay. During the ceremony, a video message from Prince Harry was played. In the recorded video, the third in line to the British crown stated the awards is a celebration of "all that is totally wonderful and unique about British music."
