Responding to report suggesting that the 'Star Trek' star is close to join 'The First Avenger: Captain America', a source close to the actor says no offer has been made.
Contrary to circulating rumor,
Chris Pine is still far from securing the titular role in "The First Avenger: Captain America". Slamming down the speculation was Gossip Cop, which came out with a debunking statement from a source close to the actor. The insider claimed that there's been "no offer at all."
Sounding off similar denial was the twitter of the "
Star Trek" leading man's official site operators. In response to the recent swirling rumor, they posted a tweet that read, "Is Chris really up for Captain America role? 'Pure speculation.' - So there you have it guys, he is not attached to the CA role. :)"
CinemaSpy has recently brought up the news that the 29-year-old actor is the most likely candidate to don the red, white and blue costume. The site claimed to have received an email from "a tipster claiming to be well-connected within the Paramount hierarchy" who heard that the role could end up on the "
Just My Luck" star's hands.
"The First Avenger: Captain America" will follow the story of Army officer Steve Rogers. It will serve as the introduction of the superhero character before and during the second World War until he becomes the Avengers' leader. Joe Johnston will direct, and Kevin Feige will produce. The shooting is expected to start this summer with the aim of July 22, 2011 U.S. release.
Chris Pine isn't the only actor rumored to be taking on the lead role. Many A-list actors have been linked to this iconic character, naming some are
Matthew McConaughey,
Leonardo DiCaprio and
Will Smith. Still, none has been confirmed to be attached to portray the red-white-and-blue-costumed hero.
