Making his contribution in the charity effort to raise money for Haiti, the winner of season 8 will perform and share footage of his visit to the earthquake-stricken country on February 25.
Kris Allen will be returning to the "American Idol" stage for a cause. On Wednesday, February 17, FOX announced that the 24-year-old singer will perform on the February 25 results show to help raise money for Haiti, marking his first appearance on the show since winning season 8 in May 2009.
During his appearance on the show, the "Live Like We're Dying" singer will also share footage of his visit to the earthquake-stricken country. Partnering with the United Nations Foundation, he is expected to travel to Haiti on February 19 to meet with U.N. staff and Haitian people to find out what the country needs for its recovery.
"I'm looking forward to traveling to Haiti to see the U.N.'s work firsthand," the singer who bested over
Adam Lambert in the 2009 finale said in a statement. "The people of Haiti are rebuilding their country, and the U.N. is there to help them every step of the way. I look forward to sharing the images and stories from my trip with 'Idol' viewers across the country."
Kris Allen's performance on February 25 will be a part of "Idol Gives Back". FOX has stated that viewers will be asked to make donations online or by text-messaging, with the money going to the Idol Gives Back Foundation to help support the U.N. Foundation's work in Haiti. The "Idol Gives Back" episode itself will take place on April 21 and will benefit five charities, including Feeding America and Malaria No More.
