A spokesman for the golf champ states the text, which says the athlete has agreed to live apart from his wife Elin Nordegren, is 'absolutely false' and is not a part of his February 19 speech.
A leaked portion of
Tiger Woods' public apology that has been circulating around the web has been shot down. Soon after the so-called fake statement surfaced, Tiger Woods Foundation spokesman Glenn Greenspan told the New York Daily News that the text is not a part of his speech set to be delivered on Friday, February 19, branding it as "absolutely false".
Surfacing a day after the agent of the World #1 golfer announced when the athlete will make his public apology, the alleged transcript was first obtained by North Carolina radio station WKSF FM 99.9. It contained statement that the 34-year-old professional golfer has agreed to live apart from his former model wife
Elin Nordegren.
"Directly to the point there is no one to blame but me for the mess I have put my wife and family through. I accept total and complete responsibility," a fraction of the alleged text read. "My wife and I have been trying to work things out but sadly things have not worked out." It further read, "We have decided to live apart with me having mutually agreed upon times when I can be with our children."
On Wednesday, February 17, Tiger Woods' agent Mark Steinberg came forward with a press release stating the athlete . It was announced that the golfer will speak out at the TPC Sawgrass headquarters of the PGA Tour in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida on Friday.
