Saying he is happy that his daughter has finally begun to come 'clean', the father of the 'Machete' actress blames the 'addiction specialist' for her drug addiction.
Lindsay Lohan's father Michael Lohan has come forward in a response to his daughter's statement that she started abusing substances after he began talking to the press about her private life. Setting the record straight, Michael has released a statement insisting that the 23-year-old actress "DID NOT GO ROCK BOTTOM WHEN I WENT PUBLIC."
The father of the "
Machete" actress stated that he is "very happy that Lindsay is beginning to come 'clean' " though. In addition, he expressed his continuous support towards his daughter. "Through my own experience, I did, and will continue to do, everything in my power to keep her away from the negative people, place and things in her life," he told Hollyscoop.
Blaming the "addiction specialist" for being the cause of the "
I Know Who Killed Me" actress' drug addiction, Michael further stated, "And while, I find her admissions of her experiences with alcohol and cocaine, to be noble, the REAL PROBLEM still exist with the prescription drug use that the so-called 'addiction specialist', therapist and doctors who are prescribing medication to Lindsay and other people."
On the occasion, Michael also pointed out that his divorce with Lindsay's mother Dina has also played part on his children's negative behaviors. "Lindsay and my other children were torn apart because they lost the stability of a family, only to have me extracted by Dina and her family from my children's lives while I was 'away,'" he shared. He ended the statement, saying, "I will do ALL I can, to make things right, even if it costs me, or is at my own expense!"
On February 22, Lindsay Lohan told The Sun that her father was the reason she used drugs. "When my father was going public, that's when I hit rock bottom. I abused substances too much and it wasn't the answer to my problems," she told the publication. "People need to know that. I tried to mask my problems with alcohol, cocaine and mind-altering substances."
"Now I'm in a place where I don't need to use anything and I can feel emotions because I choose to. I learnt from my mistakes and now I'm healthy and happier," she further stated. "I never want to be close to losing everything I worked for and aspired to my whole life. I was only aware of cocaine because of my dad. I was terrified of it. But I tried it because I was stubborn, stupid, and wanted to see what it was like. It's not something I ever want to do again."
