The 'Gossip Girl' hunk and the star of 'The Office' are allegedly listed among the handful of actors considered for the title role in 'The First Avenger: Captain America'.
As Marvel Studios is expected to conduct screen test to find its Captain America depicter in "The First Avenger: Captain America",
Chace Crawford and
John Krasinski surface as potential candidates. According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), the "Gossip Girl" actor is in talks for the screen test, while the star of "The Office" has been listed in the testing line.
THR reported that Krasinski's already confirmed contenders include Michael Cassidy of "Smallville", Scott Porter of "Friday Night Lights", Patrick Flueger of "
Brothers" and
Mike Vogel of "
Cloverfield". The publication additionally mentioned that "
Tron Legacy" star Garret Hedlund is currently out of the competition due to scheduling conflicts.
Before the names of Chace Crawford and John Krasinski being tossed into the run, it was speculated that "
Star Trek" leading man
Chris Pine is to don the red, white and blue costume. Though so, an insider has claimed that there's been "no offer at all," and the twitter of Pine's official site operators has posted a message debunking the story.
"The First Avenger: Captain America" will follow the story of Army officer Steve Rogers. It will serve as the introduction of the superhero character before and during the second World War until he becomes the Avengers' leader. Joe Johnston will direct, and Kevin Feige will produce. The shooting is expected to start this summer with the aim of July 22, 2011 U.S. release.
