While the Alex Russo of 'Wizards of Waverly Place' nabs the honor for comedy series, 'Secret Life of an American Teenager' star Shailene Woodley gets the title for drama series.
Selena Gomez has added her awards collection with a kudo from 2010 Gracie Awards. The American Women in Radio and Television organization has hailed the 17-year-old songstress this year's Outstanding Female Rising Star in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Alex Russo in her Disney Channel series "Wizards of Waverly Place".
Taking similar award as the "Naturally" singer was former "The O.C." actress
Shailene Woodley. The 18-year-old actress got her Outstanding Female Rising Star award from the drama series category for her work as Amy Juergens on ABC Family series "The Secret Life of the American Teenager".
Other winners include Peri Gilpin,
Drew Barrymore and
Glenn Close. Gilpin won Outstanding Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Drama Series for "Make It or Break It", while Barrymore received Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Drama Special and Close nailed Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Drama Series or Special.
The Gracie Awards honors programming and individuals of the highest caliber in all facets of radio, television, cable and web-based media, including news, drama, comedy, commercials, public service, documentary and sports.
