The country trio scores seven noms for this year's Academy of Country Music Awards and is followed closely by Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood with six each as well as Taylor Swift with five.
Reba McEntire and
Blake Shelton were up early on Tuesday morning, March 2 to read out the nominees for the 45th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. Live from New York City during CBS' "The Early Show" broadcast, the two country stars unraveled that
Lady Antebellum has led the field with seven noms.
The country music trio consisted of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood nabbed Top Vocal Group of the Year and Album of the Year for "Lady Antebellum". In addition to being up for Single Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Video of the Year, they were also nominated as a producer for Single Record of the Year and as a composer for Song of the Year.
Upon learning about the nominations they received, Haywood said in a statement as quoted by the Associated Press, "You always hear about the power of a great song, and there's no doubt that 'Need You Now' has definitely been a career-changer for us ... but seven nominations?" He added, "We are blown away."
While Lady Antebellum dominated with their seven nominations,
Miranda Lambert and
Carrie Underwood were trailing closely behind with six each. Both Lambert and Underwood will have to battle it out with Lady A in the category of Album of the Year as well as Song of the Year. They will be up against each other for Top Female Vocalist of the Year.
